Oh, my! How the time flies! I have, as always, overscheduled and overbooked so that I have little "free time." I'm much busier now that I'm "retired" than I ever was when I worked. As for progress on the Judson Statue, I'm happy to report that Bob McDermott has begun the sculpting process, working on Aunt Phoebe's head, which will shortly be off to the foundry to be cast in bronze. The bronze bust will be mounted on a marble base, with an inscription saying "Phoebe Goodell Judson, The Mother of Lynden," and one will be given (along with their commemorative paver) to all major donors of $15,000.00 or more. Once that has been sent to the foundry, Bob will begin sculpting Holden's head, and so on..Another exciting project on the horizon is a writing one. As much as I would like to say my second book, Finding Aunt Phoebe, My Search for the True Life of Phoebe Goodell Judson, is done, I can't spend much time on that until sufficient funds have been raised for the statue. But I do have a major writing assignment. I recently met with Prof. John Findlay, History Professor at the U.W., who now has copies of two of my rare diaries. We spent two hours discussing my research and he was very interested in my discoveries about Phoebe and Holden. He had no idea that anyone was conducting research on them at this level or that so much new information had been found. He is Editor of PNQ (Pacific Northwest Quarterly) and has asked me to write an article for publication. This is a very high honor and I am currently working on that.
